Parking in front garages made easier

MGH employees who park in the Fruit and Parkman Street garages on nights and weekends soon will be able to use their MGH ID badges as their parking access cards, eliminating the need for a separate access card.

The MGH Parking Office will automatically convert to ID badge access beginning Feb. 13. This will not affect employees who already use their ID badges for garage access. Once employees have used their IDs to get into the garage, old access cards (shown below) should be deposited into boxes at the garage exits.

If an ID badge does not work once the conversion has taken place, it will need to be reprogrammed by the MGH Parking Office in stages (see schedule below). Employees should continue to use their existing access cards until it is their designated time to visit the MGH Parking Office located in the Fruit Street garage.

Old access cards will be deactivated alphabetically on each of the last days of manual programming listed below. Employees who park at night or on the weekend and do not have their ID badges will have to pay the visitor rate of $8 before exiting if employment status can be verified, otherwise the $20 public rate will be applied.

Manual ID badge programming will be on the

D through H
Feb. 21 to March 4

I through M
