Employee
insurance makes traveling easier
With the MGH known across the globe as a leading, world-class medical
institution, many employees regularly travel both stateside and abroad
as part of their jobs. While juggling the demands of such a schedule can
often be a stressful experience, one employee benefit program —
travel accident insurance — now offers some help.
Since 2002, all Partners employees who regularly work at least 16 hours
per week have been covered under the World Wide Group Travel Accident
Insurance Program. This policy is not limited to foreign travel. All employees
traveling on business from their regular employment locations are covered.
Benefits of the insurance program include:
• Travel assistance services
• Medical evacuation
• Repatriation services
• Limited coverage for spouse and dependent children
under age 19
• Partial coverage for personal travel taken before,
during or after an
approved
business trip
• Three times base salary in the event of accidental
death, dismemberment,
disappearance, paralysis or coma (up to $1 million)
Some exceptions do apply, and travel to the following countries is excluded
from coverage: Afghanistan, Algeria, Chad, Chechnya, the Democratic Republic
of Congo, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Kuwait and Somalia. Any employee with plans
to travel to one of these countries should contact Paul Mahoney, insurance
manager,
at pdmahoney@partners.org
or (617) 726-8195.
Employees traveling in a foreign country also should carry the following
