MGHers collaborate to build awareness about sexual assault prevention

In recognition of April as national Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, the MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP), MGH Police and Security, the Emergency Department's Sexual Assault Program, MGH Men Against Abuse and the Hospitals Helping Abuse and Violence End Now (HAVEN) program joined together to sponsor an information table about sexual violence prevention April 6 in the Main Corridor. The display featured information about a variety of topics — including healthy relationships, warning signs of abuse and MGH resources available to help victims of sexual assault and abuse.

"Everyone who stopped by our table seemed grateful that we were distributing this type of information"says Corinne Castro of MGH Social Services. "For instance, one mother said, "I have been looking for information about sexual assault prevention that I could give to my daughter.'"

For more information about sexual assault prevention programs at the MGH, contact the MGH Emergency Department Sexual Assault Program at (617) 724-4129.
