Patriot
featured in TV ads for MGH
On Feb. 16, 2005, New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi was home
with his family when he experienced numbness in his left arm and leg and
decided to lie down for a while. Little did he know that he was experiencing
a mild stroke. Fortunately, Bruschi was rushed to the MGH by ambulance
and eventually underwent surgery to repair a small hole in his heart,
which ultimately had caused the stroke.
More than a year later, Bruschi (seen at left with Greer)
now is sharing his story of survival and recovery
in television and radio ads for the MGH
Vascular Center. The ads present information about stroke prevention,
recognizing symptoms and the importance of seeking immediate emergency
care. The ads also feature medical advice from David Greer, MD, of the
MGH Neurology
Stroke Service, who managed Bruschi's care.
From June 12 through July 3 and then again in mid-August, the ads will
be aired on the following TV stations: CBS-4, WCVB, WFXT, WHDH, WLVI,
WSBK, and cable outlets New England Sports Network, New England Cable
News and the Boston Interconnect. Radio ads will air on WBZ-AM, WCRB-FM,
WODS-FM, WRKO-AM and WROR-FM.
