MGH physicians
perform at Partners Night at the Pops 2006
The
ninth annual "Partners Night at the Pops: A Celebration in Honor
of Our Physicians," was held June 23 at Symphony Hall. Led by Pops
guest conductor Bruce Hangen, the Boston Pops Orchestra began the program
with a musical tribute to all things Boston and ended with guest vocalist
Steve Tyrell's salute to "the best American pop singer of the 20th
century," Frank Sinatra.
The highlight of the evening came during the talent segment when 10 Partners
physicians narrated the characters in Sergei Prokofiev's classic piece
"Peter and the Wolf." The characters in the Partners version
each were represented by an instrument and brought to life with perfectly
suited props. Wearing an urchin's cap, MGH physician Timothy G. Ferris,
MD, MPH, of MassGeneral Hospital for Children and Internal Medicine, narrated
the role of Peter while Sandy S. Tsao, MD, of MGH Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology,
(pictured above) proudly wore her duck hat until she met her untimely
end in the wolf's jaws.
Adding to the enjoyment of the 1,400 physicians and guests in attendance,
customized illustrations featuring the physicians "in character"
were created by a local artist and projected on the stage.
