Patients and MGHers honor NF clinic director

MGH patients, family members, friends and colleagues recently honored Mia MacCollin, MD, at an event hosted by the national patient support group Neurofibromatosis, Inc. as guests celebrated MacCollin's retirement as director of the MGH Neurofibromatosis (NF) Clinic. MacCollin joined the MGH in 1990 and is a well-known expert in the field of NF. At the celebration, Karen Peluso, executive director of Neurofibromatosis, Inc. Northeast, announced a gift of $36,000 in MacCollin's honor to support the MGH NF Clinic.

A highlight of the festivities included a special group of guests — MacCollin's canine companions. For many years, MacCollin — a lifelong dog lover — has trained assistance dogs for deaf and disabled individuals for the National Education for Assistance Dog Service (NEADS) organization.
