  • "Be Ready: Prepare to Respond" campaign kicks off
    The MGH's Emergency Preparedness (EP) program launched the "Be Ready: Prepare to Respond" campaign by hosting an information table in the Main Corridor July 19. The goal of the new campaign is to raise awareness about the MGH EP program and to educate employees, patients and visitors about the importance of preparing for a disaster by having an emergency plan at work and home. Patrons had the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a basic emergency kit by completing a quiz about emergency preparedness.
  • Process improvement implementation enhances services
    The MGH is among a growing number of hospitals that have applied methods developed by the automobile manufacturer Toyota to improve work processes. Implemented at the MGH in 2004, this approach to process improvement integrates four key capabilities: work redesign, continuous improvement, sharing knowledge about process improvement and organizing the workplace to facilitate the first three components.
  • Research best practice awards
    Carlos Camargo, MD, of MGH Emergency Services, along with David Schoenfeld, PhD, and Taylor Thompson, MD, of the MGH Biostatistics Center, recently were honored at the National Institutes of Health-sponsored National Leadership Forum.
  • PeopleSoft system gets an upgrade
    MGHers soon will see a new version of the PeopleSoft Human Resources Management System (HRMS) when the system is upgraded during the week of Aug. 7. To prepare for the upgrade, PeopleSoft Employee Self Service (ESS) and Manager Self Service (MSS) will be unavailable from Aug. 7 at 5 pm through Aug. 10 at noon.
  • Berstein receives Howard M. Goodman Fellowship
    Bradley Bernstein, MD, PhD, of the MGH Department of Pathology, recently was named the first recipient of the Howard M. Goodman Fellowship, which was presented to him at the July 10 meeting of the MGH Executive Committee on Research (ECOR). As a fellow, Bernstein will receive $150,000 per year for two years.
  • Patients and MGHers honor NF clinic director
    MGH patients, family members, friends and colleagues recently honored Mia MacCollin, MD, at an event hosted by the national patient support group Neurofibromatosis, Inc. as guests celebrated MacCollin's retirement as director of the MGH Neurofibromatosis (NF) Clinic.
