Women in Medicine Month lecture

In honor of Women in Medicine Month, the MGH Office for Women's Careers will host "The Role of Women in Health Care Policy" Sept. 6, from noon to 1:30 pm in the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care, Suite B, Room 10660. Regina E. Herzlinger, the Nancy R. McPherson Professor of Business Administration at Harvard University, will be the guest speaker. Registration is required. Employee tuition assistance program
MGH Workforce Training and Development offers a tuition assistance program
for employees. To be eligible, employees must work a minimum of 20 hours per week and have completed six months of continuous service at the time of application. Applicants must be enrolled in a basic education, certificate, undergraduate or master's degree program and will be reimbursed upon successful completion of the course. To apply, submit a completed application, a copy of the program acceptance
letter, a course description and documentation indicating the cost per credit from the school catalog. Representatives from Workforce Training and Development will be available to answer questions about the program Aug. 9, from 11:30 am to 1 pm and 4 to 5 pm outside the Eat Street Cafe. Skin therapy symposium
The Wellman Center for Photomedicine and the MGH Department of Dermatology
will co-host the symposium "Laser and Aesthetic Skin Therapy: What's the Truth?" Sept. 15 through 17 at the Simches Research Center, third floor Conference Center. The course objectives will focus on major topics in aesthetic skin therapy and
lasers and will feature updates in treatment, safety and avoidance of complications; recognition of clinical endpoints and assessment of new clinically relevant technologies. World Breastfeeding Week
In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, the MGH Breastfeeding Committee will host information tables about breastfeeding Aug. 8, 9 and 10, from 10 am to 2 pm in the Main Corridor. Topics covered will include nutrition while breastfeeding, reasons to breastfeed, guidelines for milk storage, tips for weaning and choosing childcare. Lactation consultants also will be available to answer questions.
