Good
news for MassHealth insurance patients
Patients with MassHealth insurance now can visit MGH community imaging
facilities, Mass General Imaging Chelsea or Mass General West Imaging
Waltham, for CT scans. As always, MRI studies for patients with MassHealth
also are available at these facilities.
Until recently, MassHealth required patients to come to the main MGH campus
for CT scans. Recently, however, members of the MGH, Massachusetts General
Physicians Organization and Partners HealthCare System have worked diligently
with the Massachusetts Division of Medical Assistance to expand coverage
to include the community facilities. This policy change has enhanced access
and alleviated scheduling challenges for referring physician offices and
patients.
"This new policy improves our patients' access to their CT scans,"
says Lynne Brodsky, MD, unit chief of Chelsea HealthCare Center. "I
feel confident that patients will show up for their tests, because geography
will no longer be an impediment."
Mass General West Imaging Waltham provides MRIs, CT scans, screening mammography,
bone densitometry, ultrasound, X-ray, nuclear medicine and pediatric imaging
services. Upcoming new services will include digital mammography this
fall and expanded MRI and CT availability over the next year.
Mass General Imaging Chelsea at 80 Everett Avenue currently offers MRI
and CT services. An expected expansion will include PET/CT services in
2007. Both facilities offer world-renowned MGH clinical expertise, subspecialty
radiologists and the added convenience of immediate appointment availability
as well as free parking.
Exams can be scheduled through the Radiology Order Entry system at http://mghroe
or by calling (617) 724-XRAY (9729). For more information, visit
