Wage
and salary program update
Because of another year of strong financial performance, the MGH is able
to offer a competitive wage and salary program for fiscal year 2007, beginning
Sept. 24, that includes a performance-based increase ranging up to 5 percent.
This year's General Hospital program is funded at 3 percent. Those who
are above the maximum of their pay range are eligible for a bonus of up
to 3 percent. A completed performance appraisal is required before any
increase or bonus can be processed.
The Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO) will follow a
similar approach, with each practice responsible for making compensation
decisions based on their financial ability to participate.
In a letter distributed to employees, Peter L. Slavin, MD, president of
the MGH, commended employees for their hard work. "We've made significant
achievements in the past year — all of which could not have been
possible without the dedicated employees who care for our patients and
their families and ensure that the hospital runs smoothly and efficiently,"
he said. "While we will continue to face challenges in the coming
year such as managing the hospital's capacity and space issues and anticipating
new guidelines from the health care reform law, I am confident that the
MGH will rise to meet these challenges because of the extraordinary commitment
of our employees."
