Domestic violence awareness
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the MGH Domestic
Violence Working Group invites all employees to participate in the following
events:
Cell Phone Drive:
Cell phones provide emergency help to victims of domestic violence who
can't use or don't have home phones. Unused cell phones can be brought
to any of the following events:
Oct. 5: "Teens and Relationships: What Every Parent Needs
to Know," from noon to 1 pm in the Thier Conference Room
Oct. 11: MGH Men Against Abuse information table,
from 7 to 9 am in the Main Corridor
"Something My Father Would Do - Overcoming Legacies of Family
Violence," from 11:45 am to 1 pm in the Burr Conference Rooms
Oct. 20: MGH Men Against Abuse information table,
from 7 to 9 am in the Main Corridor
"Triumph - To Achieve Victory, to Survive,"
from 11:45 am to 1 pm in the Burr Conference Rooms
Cut It Out Campaign:
Hairdressers often are the first to notice signs of domestic abuse, as
they can detect bruising to the neck and head and damage to the hair caused
by assaults. MGHers are invited to inform hairdressers about domestic
violence by bringing educational materials to their hair appointments.
Materials will be available at the events listed above.
