  • Orthopædic Ambulatory Surgery Center opens in Waltham
    Mass General West in Waltham has added orthopædic surgery to its many available services with the opening of its new, state-of-the-art Orthopædic Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).The facility, which opened this past August, brings the MGH's top-quality orthopædic care to a location convenient for residents west of Boston.
  • Senator Barrios visits Chelsea HealthCare Center
    It's not every day that one has the undivided attention of a state senator. But that's just what some children from the MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center's Reach Out and Read (ROR) program were treated to when Massachusetts State Sen. Jarrett Barrios paid the group a visit Sept. 13. Sen. Barrios read Buenas Noches Luna to the group of children, who intently listened and interacted with the senator.
  • MGH honors employees over 50
    The Bulfinch Tent was the scene of a festive reception Sept. 29 as MGH employees over the age of 50 came together to celebrate the hospital's recent designation as one of the top employers for workers over 50 by the AARP.
  • MGHers celebrate Latino Heritage Month
    Hundreds of MGHers marked Latino Heritage Month with a celebration coordinated by the Latino Heritage Planning Committee, a volunteer group of MGH employees. The lively event took place Sept. 22 and included a jazz reception under the Bulfinch Tent and a keynote speech from renowned Puerto Rican writer and documentary film producer Esmeralda Santiago in the O'Keeffe Auditorium.
  • MGH Sonography Task Force
    The staff of the MGH Occupational Health Service has established a new MGH Sonography Task Force representing Obstetrics Ultrasound, Radiology Ultrasound, Endocrine Fertility, Echocardiography and the Vascular Lab. The task force was created to examine ways to prevent work-related injuries among hospital sonographers.
  • Nominations for the Nathaniel Bowditch Prize
    Nominations are being accepted for the 2007 Nathaniel Bowditch Prize. The $5,000 award is presented annually to an MGH employee — either a clinician or nonclinician — who has made a significant contribution to improving the quality of care at the hospital while reducing the cost of such care.
