Barbara Roberge, RN, PhD,
principle investigator, and Ellen Mahoney, RN, DNS, co-investigator, recently
were awarded a grant by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for their research
project "The MGH Nursing Ambulatory to Hospitals Transitions (NAHT)"
program. The goal of the NAHT program is to test the impact of identifying
and communicating a pre-hospital preventive patient risk profile on nurse-sensitive
quality outcomes for hospitalized older adults.
May Pian-Smith, MD,
co-chief of Obstetric Anesthesia at the MGH, recently was elected chair
of the Joint Committee on the Status of Women (JCSW) at Harvard Medical
School (HMS) and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). The JCSW
was formed to facilitate and enhance the contributions of women at HMS
and
HSDM by expanding and improving opportunities for advancement.
The Boston Business Journal recently recognized three MGH employees
as "Champions in Health Care" for their far-reaching contributions
to patient care, the community and medicine. These employees are Karen
Holland, RN, of Emergency Services;
James Luisi,
chief executive officer of the North End Community Health Center; and
Larry Ronan, MD,
of the Department of Medicine and director of the Thomas Durant, MD, Fellowship
in Refugee Medicine.
