Kidney Care Day at the MGH

The MGH Nephrology Division celebrated its third annual Kidney Care Day
Oct. 5 with a talk and an information table to publicize the wide range of resources
available at the MGH for patients with kidney disease. Bernard C. Rossier, MD, of the University of Lausanne in Switzerland presented "Epithelial Sodium Channel Function and Dysfunction: Revisiting Diuretic Therapy," during Medical Grand Rounds. MGH staff learned about his studies of the kidney's control of sodium excretion, which has implications for a new generation of diuretic medicines to address salt and fluid balance in the treatment of hypertension.

Passersby in the Main Corridor had the opportunity to pick up materials from an information table about services available at the MGH's Nephrology Division, Center for Renal Education, Renal Associates, Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, Social Services, Nutrition and Food Services and Transplant Center.

"Kidney Care Day was a day to not only learn more about nephrology services but also to thank MGH caregivers for their wonderful contribution to the care of Nephrology Division patients," says Laurie Biel, RN. "We encourage the MGH community to learn about the resources available for patients with kidney disease."
