United Way kickoff is gearing up

MGHers are invited to attend the United Way kickoff under the Bulfinch Tent Oct. 27, from 11:30 am to 1 pm to celebrate this year's theme "Think locally — Give locally." All those who attend the party will have the chance to win a door prize such as a DVD player or two tickets to the Nov. 12 New England Patriots versus New York Jets football game.

"We have planned a wonderful, harvest-themed event to kickoff this year's United Way campaign at the MGH," says Patricia Sheehan, manager for Human Resources and United Way co-chair. "Employees are invited to enjoy great food, music and seasonal decorations. The Bulfinch Tent will be decorated with bales of hay, corn stalks, pumpkins and this year's United Way poster campaign, featuring MGH staff and employees."

All those who attend the event will have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a pumpkin hand-decorated by a member of the MGH administration. Those who submit a United Way pledge card or make a donation of at least one dollar will receive a bag of candy that may include a prize such as a restaurant gift certificate or a coupon for an office pizza party. MGHers who return their pledge cards by noon Nov. 3 will qualify for the grand prize drawing Nov. 6 for the chance to win a 50-inch plasma HDTV or an autographed Richard Seymour New England Patriots jersey. Pledge cards can be submitted at the event or at any of the United Way drop boxes located throughout the hospital.
