15th annual Pediatric Memorial Service
The MGH Comfort and Support After Loss Team will hold the 15th annual
Pediatric Memorial Service Nov. 5, from 2 to 4 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium.
A reception will be held in the East Garden Room following the service.

Patient education workshop
The MGH Patient Education Committee will host "The Essence of Patient
Education" Nov. 13, from 8 am to noon in the Thier Conference Room.
The interactive workshop will be led by Fran London, RN, a nationally-recognized

Working Mother magazine
award celebration
To celebrate the MGH's designation by Working Mother magazine
as one of the top 100 organizations in the country that support working
mothers, all MGH employees are invited to join their colleagues who are
working mothers at a special reception Nov. 1, from 2 to 4 pm in the WACC
Lobby. The event will feature guest speakers Peter L. Slavin, MD, president
of the MGH; Sally Mason Boemer, vice president for Finance and a working
mother; and Mary Ellen Heike, RN, staff specialist for women's health.

Flu clinic for seniors
MGH Senior HealthWISE will offer a free flu clinic for seniors Nov. 6,
from 1:30 to 3 pm at the Hill House, 127 Mt. Vernon St. The clinic is
restricted to seniors age 60 years or older. For more information, call

Smoking cessation program
The MGH Tobacco Treatment Service is offering a seven-week smoking cessation
program that will meet Wednesdays, beginning Nov. 1 at 5:30 pm. The program
will include information about preparing to quit, coping with stress without
cigarettes and preventing weight gain. Low-cost nicotine patches and gum
will be available with written approval from a primary care physician.

Working and breastfeeding presentation
The MGH Employee Assistance Program (EAP) will offer a working and breastfeeding
presentation Nov. 9, from noon to 1 pm in VBK, Room 401.Germaine Lambergs,
an MGH lactation consultant, will discuss how to use breast pumps, reverse
feeding, and problem identification and resolution. The program will include

IHP information session
The MGH Institute of Health Professions (IHP) will host an information
session Nov. 11, from 10 am to noon at CNY. Staff will be available to

Senior HealthWISE aerobics class
MGH Senior HealthWISE will offer a one-hour "Fall into Fitness"

The Wellman Center for Photomedicine will host "Veni, Vidi, Vici:

Mammography technologist open house
A career open house for mammography technologists will be held Nov. 9,
from 5 to 8 pm at the Avon Breast Imaging Center in the WACC, second floor.
The open house will include on-site interviews, a tour of the center and
a presentation by Elizabeth Rafferty, MD, of MGH Radiology. Full-time,

Informed consent lecture
The MGH Clinical Research Program is sponsoring "Communicating Risk:
Psychological Barriers to True Informed Consent" Nov. 29, from 4
to 5 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The presentation will cover the psychology
of why some risks are more frightening than others and ways to discuss
these risks with people so that they are able to make informed choices.
The lecture qualifies for AMA Category 1 and Risk Management credits for
investigators and 1.2 contact hours of nursing continuing education credit.
