Expanded space for Dermatology Laser and Cosmetic Center

Following a yearlong expansion process, the MGH Dermatology Laser and Cosmetic Center (DLCC) has moved to a new, state-of-the-art suite located at 50 Staniford St., Suite 250. The space was showcased to MGH employees, patients and visitors at an open house Oct. 19.

With the increased space, the DLCC is better able to accommodate a rapidly growing physician and administrative staff as well as recently-acquired laser devices. Currently, the DLCC has 15 different lasers that can treat conditions such as broken blood vessels, sun-damaged skin, wrinkles, scars and tattoos. In addition to laser therapies, patients can have aesthetic procedures such as Botox injections, chemical peels for facial rejuvenation, sclerotherapy for leg veins and tumescent liposuction. All procedures are performed on an outpatient basis by board certified MGH dermatologists and typically require minimal recovery time for patients.

"Most of the lasers used in aesthetic procedures today were developed within the MGH Department of Dermatology and the Wellman Center for Photomedicine," says Mathew Avram, MD, JD, the new director of the center (right). "This close association has given the DLCC an international reputation for innovative, leading-edge treatments that has enabled us to expand our services to meet the needs of our patients."
