  • MGH nursing research reaches milestone
    Two nursing research positions have been established at the Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research, representing an important milestone for nursing research at the MGH. Diane L. Carroll, PhD, APRN, and Laurel E. Radwin, PhD, RN, have accepted positions as nurse researchers at the Munn Center.
  • MGH makes $3 million committment to Charlestown
    The MGH is preparing for the approaching flu season by offering patients the option of receiving the flu vaccine while hospitalized. MGH clinicians now can order the flu vaccine through the Provider Order Entry (POE) system as a primary preventative measure and a precaution for patients who are unable to obtain a flu vaccine in other settings.
  • Ojimba retires from the MGH
    Hasan Bazari, MD, program director for the MGH Department of Medicine Training Program, and Debra Weinstein, MD, of the MGH Gastrointestinal Unit and vice president for Graduate Medical Education at Partners, were named the recipients of two awards from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • "The Rock" visits the MGHfC Pediatric Diabetes Center
    More than 150 delighted children and parents from the MassGeneral Hospital for Children's (MGHfC) Pediatric Diabetes Center were treated to a special visit from actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson, also known as "The Rock." In town filming a movie, Johnson visited the MGHfC Pediatric Diabetes Center's Halloween party to talk to children about healthy eating and regular exercise, two good habits that are especially important for children with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • The MGH salutes working mothers
    Working mothers from across the hospital took a break from their busy schedules to be feted at a special reception Nov. 1 held in honor of the MGH being named one of the top 100 companies for working mothers by Working Mother magazine. The MGH was selected based on a number of programs and benefits, including on-site childcare options, compensation, organizational structure and family-friendly policies.
  • MGH employee bonus program is implemented
    Because of the hard work of staff and employees throughout the institution, the MGH performed well during fiscal year 2006, beating its margin target and paving the way for a hospitalwide employee bonus program.For the second year in a row, the hospital has implemented the bonus program as a way to recognize employees' contributions to the hospital's success. The bonus, which is taxable, appeared in employees' paychecks Nov. 16. The chart below describes bonus eligibility requirements and the amount for staff.
