  • Pamela J. Ellis Award honors administrative excellence
    "Choosing a winner among winners" is how George Baker, MD, of the Bulfinch Medical Group, described the selection process for the 2007 Pamela J. Ellis Memorial Secretarial Award presented at a special luncheon held April 25 to honor and thank MGH administrative assistants.
  • Ferris named MGPO medical director
    Timothy Ferris, MD, has been named medical director of the Massachusetts General Physicians Organization (MGPO). He succeeds Gregg Meyer, MD, who has become the MGH/MGPO senior vice president for Quality and Patient Safety.
  • When good is just not good enough
    In April 25, MGHers dedicated to improving the service culture at the hospital attended the latest session of the MGH/MGPO's Service Learning Series, "Stage II: Planning for Change; Part II: Learning from Data." Hosted by the MGH Service Improvement Department, the workshop aimed to teach department and practice leaders how patient satisfaction survey data can help them better understand their current level of service, learn ways to take action to improve service and use tools to monitor service improvement progress.

    Nearly 300 young "MGHers-in-training" visited the hospital April 27 for the annual Take Your Child to Work Day sponsored by MGH Human Resources (HR).

    Despite a steady drizzle, hundreds of elementary school students from across Boston and the children of MGH employees entered the Bulfinch Tents April 27 for the MassGeneral Hospital for Children's (MGHfC) eleventh annual Children's Health Fair.

    Investigators from the MGH Cancer Center and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) have found a new way some lung tumors become resistant to targeted therapy drugs like Iressa and Tarceva.

    The fifth annual MGH Clinical Research Day will be held May 17 with the theme "Transforming Clinical Research through Genetics and Genomics."
