New president to lead Institute of Health Professions

Janis P. Bellack, PhD, RN, FAAN, (left) has been named the new president of the MGH Institute of Health Professions, succeeding Ann Caldwell, who led the institute for the past 10 years. Bellack will begin her new role in September.

Most recently, Bellack served as vice president of Academic Affairs and provost and professor of Nursing and Health Sciences at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She has extensive experience as a federally-funded investigator and has more than 70 scholarly publications to her credit. A nationally-known speaker, Bellack has spoken on a variety of issues relating to the education of health professionals. Since 1997, she has been a senior consultant and core faculty team member for the Executive Nurse Fellows program at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). Bellack also was a member of the national advisory committee of the Partnerships for Quality Education Program at the RWJF from 1999 to 2006.

The institute is an academic affiliate of the MGH offering post-baccalaureate degree and certificate programs in nursing, physical therapy, speech language pathology, clinical investigation and medical imaging.
