VBK Buidling closes July 16
The Vincent Burnham Kennedy (VBK) Building will close permanently at the end of the day Monday, July 16. MGH staff and the general public will no longer have access to this building. The last departments in the VBK will vacate floors 6 through 9 this weekend, and the lower floors have already closed. The VBK elevator will be closed to the public beginning Tuesday morning, July 17. Interior construction barriers are being put up to block the entrance to the VBK floors from the White and Ellison corridors as preparations for building demolition continue. Any questions should be directed to Brad Seamans in the Planning and Construction office at (617) 726-2442.

Senior HealthWISE events
MGH Senior HealthWISE will offer free hypertension screenings and blood pressure checks July 16, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the West End Civic Association Community Room, One Emerson Place. The Senior HealthWISE lecture series will host "Breast Cancer in Older Women" July 19, from 11 am to noon in the Haber Conference Room. Conversations with Caregivers Eldercare Series
As part of its Conversations with Caregivers Eldercare Series, the MGH Geriatric Medicine Unit will offer "Advance Care Planning: How to Keep Wishes Known Through Use of a Health Care Proxy and Other Advance Directives" July 17, from 5:15 to 6:30 pm in the Blum Center. Marilyn Wise, MSW, LICSW, of MGH Social Services, and Gayle Peterson, RN, C, of MGH Clinical Nursing Services, will present. For more information, call (617) 726-4612.

Clinical Trials course
The MGH Clinical Research Program is offering a Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials course Mondays and Thursdays in September and October from 5 to 6:15 pm. The course is geared toward second year fellows, junior faculty pursuing careers in clinical research and physicians with an interest in becoming more involved in clinical research.
