Donna Perry, RN, PhD, MGH associate nurse scientist, received the Distinguished Dissertation Award from the William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College. Perry received the honor for her dissertation, “Transcendent Pluralism and the Evolution of the Human Spirit: A Philosophical Nursing Inquiry Using Lonergan’s Transcendental Method of Transcendental Pluralism in Catholics Who Support Same Gender Marriage.”

Deborah Washington, RN, PhDc, director of Diversity for Patient Care Services, has been named a fellow in the 2007 Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellows Program. The advanced leadership program is designed for nurses in senior executive roles who are poised to lead and shape the U.S. health care system for the future.

Three MGH physicians have been honored with Harvard Medical School Excellence in Mentoring Awards. Michael A. Moskowitz, MD, of Neuroradiology, received the William Silen Lifetime Achievement in Mentoring Award. David Altshuler, MD, PhD, of Molecular Biology, the Department of Medicine and Center for Human Genetic Research, and Lisa Rae Leffert, MD, of Anesthesia, both received Young Mentor Awards.

The MGH Department of Medicine recently celebrated the presentation of the following teaching awards: Alfred Kranes Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching: Alberto Puig, MD, PhD; Brian A. McGovern Memorial Award: James L. Januzzi, MD; Charles Burnett Special Recognition Award: Stephen Calderwood, MD, Gilbert Daniels, MD, and Bimalangshu R. Dey, MD; Excellence in Ambulatory Teaching Award: William A. Kormos, MD; Fellows Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching: Kathleen Corey, MD, Eugene Rhee, MD, and Rory Weiner, MD; Lifetime Teaching Achievement Award: Peter Yurchak, MD; Medical Intensive Care Unit Teaching Award: Taylor Thompson, MD; Morton N. Swartz Humanism in Medicine Award: Alex Benson, MD, Brian Chan, MD, and Leigh Simmons, MD; Newton-Wellesley Hospital Faculty Teaching Award: Janet Larson, MD; Nursing Appreciation Award: Thomas C. Lynch, RN; Primary Care Teaching Award: Shana Birnbaum, MD; Senior Resident Excellence in Teaching Awards: Alex Benson, MD, Rajeev Malhotra, MD, Leigh Simmons, MD, and David Sykes, MD, PhD; Stanley M.
