Easy links to good summer health

Many of the health plans offered to MGH benefits-eligible employees have online resources that offer advice for staying safe and healthy this summer. The Partners Benefits Office suggests checking these information and resource sites:

Diet and Exercise
No time to hit the gym this summer? Online personal training is available to help MGHers squeeze in a workout right at their desks. Visit Blue Cross Blue Shield’s
A Healthy Me website at www.ahealthyme.com/topic/personaltrainer for more
information. Then discover just how many calories are in the summer’s most popular drinks with an online beverage calculator, available on the Tufts Health Plan’s Caremark Information Center website at healthresources.caremark.com/topic/drinkcalc.

Preventive Care
Fun summer activities can also bring safety concerns. MGHers seeking advice on topics ranging from sunscreen to camping safety can visit Blue Cross Blue Shield’s www.ahealthyme.com or Tufts Health Plan’s healthresources.caremark.com/topic/home to search for information on these and many other topics.

First Aid
Even with the best preventive measures, accidents can happen. Harvard Pilgrim
Health Care offers a comprehensive health database, “Health Topics A-Z,” for tips for dealing with everything from insect bites to poison ivy. The directory is available at www.healthwise.net/hphc. MGHers seeking additional information about conditions such as asthma, knee pain and smoking cessation can visit the “Health and Wellness” section of the Harvard Pilgrim website at www.harvardpilgrim.org..
