Treadwell Day
The
MGH Treadwell Library will celebrate its 160th birthday Aug. 1, from 1 to 4 pm. All MGHers are invited to stop by and enjoy a dessert reception, test their knowledge about MGH history, view early MGH photographs and read about John Goodhue Treadwell, whose bequest founded the library. Seventh annual Harris Oration
The MGH Department of Orthopæpedics will host the seventh annual Harris Oration Sept. 26 at 7:15 am at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cambridge. Daniel J. Berry, MD, chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic and professor of Orthopedics at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, will discuss "Dislocation After Total Hip Arthroplasty: Progress on Prevention and Treatment of the Hip Surgeon's Scourge." Clinical trials course
The MGH Clinical Research Program is offering a Design and Conduct of Clinical Trials course Mondays and Thursdays in September and October, from 5 to 6:15 pm. The course is geared toward second year fellows, junior faculty pursuing careers in clinical research and physicians with an interest in becoming more involved in clinical research. The course will cover topics including research designs, protocols and ongoing trial management. The class fee is $200 and includes the textbook. Save the date: Third annual Frigoletto Symposium
The MGH Vincent Obstetrics and Gynecology Service will host the third annual Alba and Fredric Frigoletto Syposium, "Quality and Safety: How Do We Get There?" Oct. 13, from 7:30 am to noon in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Richard Bohmer, MD, MPH, senior lecturer for Technology and Operations at Harvard Business School; and Gregg S. Meyer, MD, senior vice president for MGH Quality and Safety; will be the guest speakers and will discuss the management of quality and safety in medicine. Senior HealthWISE events
The MGH Senior HealthWISE film series will offer a free screening of "The Queen" July 31, from 2 to 4 pm in the Haber Conference Room. Registration is required. The Senior HealthWISE lecture series will host "Heart Disease: Bringing Women to the Table" Aug. 2, from 1 to 2 pm in the Haber Conference Room.
