MGH/MGPO Clinical Systems Audit slated for November
Beginning Nov. 12, the MGH/MGPO will hold its first Clinical Systems Audit, a comprehensive review of all employees who have access to the Longitudinal Medical Record (LMR) and the Clinical Data Repository (CDR). The audit is a Partners HealthCare initiative designed to meet HIPAA security standards and further protect the confidentiality and integrity of electronic patient information. It also will reinforce that LMR and CDR access is limited only to employees who need it to perform their job duties. Managers who supervise employees with LMR or CDR access will receive an e-mail Nov. 12 with a link to the Clinical Systems Audit website. Once logged on, managers can view a list of their staff with LMR and CDR access and will need to indicate which access, if any, should be removed for each employee. The audit tool is easy to use and managers should find all of the information they need to complete the review within the application, which includes a help section and frequently asked questions. Managers will have unlimited access to the application during the audit period, which will last through Dec. 7. The MGH Health Information Services Department will offer a number of help sessions in November to assist managers in using the application. Additional information about the audit will be available in the coming months through e-mail communications and the MGH HIPAA website, available at intranet.massgeneral.org/hipaa/default.asp. For more information, contact Christine Griffin, HIPAA Compliance project manager, at cgriffin7@partners.org or (617) 726-6360. l |
