CFD faculty development series
The MGH Center for Faculty Development (CFD)
faculty development series will sponsor "Everything You Ever
Wanted to Know About Finding and Hiring the Right Nannny" Oct.
11, from noon to 1:30 pm in the Yawkey Center, Room 10660. Marsha
Epstein, president and founder of the American Nanny Company, will
discuss strategies for finding the right nanny. For more information

MGH photo contest
All MGH and Partners employees are invited to submit
their photos to the MGH Photography Department's tenth annual amateur
photo contest. Contestants may submit up to two photos and all entries
should be in printed form (no slides or electronic files) and no larger
than 8x10 inches, unmounted and unframed. Entry forms are available
at the Photography Department. All entries must be submitted with
a completed entry form by Oct. 16. From Oct. 23 through 30, submissions
will be displayed in the first floor corridor between the Jackson
and Bigelow buildings. Voting ballots and a ballot box will be available
in the same location. Winners will be announced in the Nov. 2 issue
of MGH
Hotline.

Kirvilaitis Partnership in Caring Award
Nominations for the Anthony Kirvilaitis Jr. Partnership
in Caring Award now are being accepted. The award recognizes nonclinical
staff within Patient Care Services who exemplify reliability, responsiveness,
creativity, assurance, collaboration and flexibility. The deadline
for nominations is Oct. 19 at 5 pm. To submit a nomination or for

MGH on the small screen
Staff members of MGH's Cardiac Surgery and Heart Failure
teams will appear in a PBS documentary Oct 15 from 9 to 10 pm on WGBH
Channel 2. The documentary, Part One of "The Mysterious Human
Heart," features an MGH patient and her care at the hospital.

Holiday planning seminar
The Partners Employee Assistance Program will offer
"Planning for the Holidays on a Shoestring" Oct. 15 at CNY
149, Larry Martin Conference Room; and Oct. 18 in the Thier Conference
Room. Both sessions will be held from noon to 1 pm. Amy Perry, consumer
finance educator with Consumer Credit Counseling Services, will help
participants plan for the holidays and stay out of debt. For more

Ernesto Gonzalez Award presentation
All members of the MGH community are invited
to attend the presentation of the Ernesto Gonzalez Award for Outstanding
Service to the Latino Community Oct. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the
Thier Conference Room. The award honors an MGH employee who has made
significant contributions to improving the experience of Latino patients,
families, visitors and employees within the MGH community.
Ether Day
The annual Ether Day celebration will be held Oct. 12, from 2 to 3:30
pm in the Bulfinch Tent. Ether Day honors employees for their length
of service at the MGH. An invitation-only dinner for employees who
have served the hospital for 20 or more years will be held Oct. 19

Mind body strategies seminar series
The Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine
will offer "Mind Body Strategies for Lowering Blood Pressure"

Eldercare discussion group
The Partners Employee Assistance Program will host its monthly eldercare

Exercise and Obesity information
table
In honor of National Physical Therapy Month,
MGH Physical Therapy Services will host an "Exercise and Obesity"
information table Oct. 10, from 11 am to 2 pm in the Main Corridor.
Physical therapists will be available to discuss the positive effects

Senior HealthWise events
The Senior HealthWISE film series will screen
"Jane Eyre" Oct. 10, from 1 to 3 pm in the Haber Conference
Room. Registration is required. Senior HealthWISE also will offer
an exercise class, "Fall Into Fitness," Oct. 11, from 11
am to noon at the Clubs at Charles River Park. Lunch will be served
from noon to 1 pm. Registration is required. In addition, the program
will offer a free flu clinic for seniors age 60 or older Oct. 15,
from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in the West End Civic Association Community Room,
