Dianne M. Finkelstein, PhD, of the MGH Biostatistics Center, has been awarded a five-year, $16.8 million contract from the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to serve as principal investigator for the Data Coordinating Center for the Cancer Genetics Network (CGN). The CGN is a national network with 14 clinical centers supporting studies in populations with an inherited predisposition to cancer. The resource is available to support studies on the genetic basis of cancer susceptibility, integrating this information into medical practice and the behavioral, ethical and public health issues associated with human genetics. The Friends of the MGH Cancer Center awarded a one-year grant to Jane Miller, RN, of the Yawkey 8 Infusion Unit, in recognition of her exemplary service and dedication to patients undergoing chemotherapy. Miller plans to use the funding to further her education in an adult nurse practitioner master's degree program.
