MGH Senior HealthWISE will host the following events: "An Introduction to Brain Aging, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease" Nov. 15, from 11 am to noon in the Haber Conference Room with guest speaker Alireza Atri, MD, PhD, of the MGH Department of Neurology; and "The Anatomical Gift Program" Nov. 15, from 1 to 2 pm at the West End Library with guest speaker Madelaine Claire Weiss, program manager of the Anatomical Gifts Program at Harvard Medical School. Cardiovascular regenerative medicine lecture
The MGH Department of Medicine will host "A Parable of Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine: The Islet-1 Master Heart Progenitor Cell Story" Nov. 15, from 5:30 to 7 pm at Harvard Medical School, Tosteson Medical Education Center, Room 227. Global health seminar series
As part of its global health seminar series, the MGH Center for Global Health will sponsor "Global Implications of Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery" Nov. 15, from 5 to 6:30 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. Kevin Bales, PhD, president of Free the Slaves and author of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated book Disposable People: New Slavery in the Global Economy, will be the guest speaker. Trichotillomania symposium
The MGH Trichotillomania Clinic and Research Unit will sponsor "Symposium on Trichotillomania and Other Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors" Dec. 2, from noon to 5 pm in the O'Keeffe Auditorium. The symposium will include information about the treatment of children and adolescents, cognitive-behavioral and medicinal treatments, and genetic and neurobiologic aspects of the disorders. Neurodegenerative disease pilot study grant program
The Massachusetts Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at the MGH and the Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center at Harvard Medical School (HMS) are now accepting applications from investigators within the HMS community for pilot studies aimed at understanding and developing treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. The one-year grants are worth up to $35,000. The application deadline is Dec. 7. For more information or to download an application, visit

Grant writing workshop for young investigators
The MGH Clinical Research Program is offering "Writing Your First Investigator Initiated NIH Grant as a Young Investigator" Nov. 26 and Dec. 3, from 3:30 to 5 pm in the Simches Research Center, Room 3110. National Family Caregivers Month events
In honor of National Family Caregivers Month, the MGH Geriatric Medicine Unit and the Partners Employee Assistance Program will host the following events: a dinner screening and discussion of "Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter" Nov. 12, from 5 to 7 pm in the Haber Conference Room; and an eldercare resource table Nov. 13, from 11 am to 1 pm in the Main Corridor. America Recycles Day information table
In honor of America Recycles Day, the MGH Raising Environmental Awareness League (REAL) will host an information table Nov. 14, from 8 am to 3 pm in the Main Corridor. REAL members will be available to provide information about ways to reduce energy usage and increase recycling at work and home and the MGH's efforts to help the environment.
