Call for Macaluso Award nominations
Nominations now are being accepted for the Stephanie M. Macaluso, RN,
Excellence in Clinical Practice Award, which is presented annually to
recognize direct care providers throughout MGH Patient Care Services whose
practice exemplifies the expert application of values personified by the
late Stephanie M. Macaluso, RN. Nomination forms are available at the
Gray Lobby information desk and must be submitted by Jan. 14. Recipients

Senior HealthWISE lecture series
The MGH Senior HealthWISE lecture series will sponsor "Living with
Arthritis" Dec. 13, from 11 am to noon in the Haber Conference Room.
Suzanne Gauthier, OT, of the Arthritis Foundation, will present. For more

PIE Awards Ceremony
The 2007 Partners in Excellence Awards celebration will be held Dec. 14
at 3 pm in a new location the Bulfinch Tent. An open reception
for all MGH employees will be held from 4:15 to 5 pm. For more information,

Irvin H. Blank Commemorative Lecture
The MGH Wellman Center for Photomedicine will host the annual Irvin H.
Blank Commemorative Lecture, "The Genetic Building Blocks of the
Skin: The Paradigm of the Dermal-Epidermal Junction," Dec. 12, from
5:30 to 6:30 pm in the Simches Research Center Auditorium. A reception
will take place from 6:30 to 8 pm. Jouni Uitto, MD, PhD, chair of the
Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology at Jefferson Medical College,

Wellman Center lecture
The MGH Wellman Center for Photomedicine will offer "PDT-Mediated
Protein Damage and its Therapeutic Implications" Dec. 11, from 2:15
to 3:15 pm in the Thier Conference Room. A coffee reception will begin
at 2 pm. Jakub Golab, MD, PhD, of the Department of Immunology and the
Center for Biostructure Research at the University of Warsaw, Poland,
