Employee parking programs and policies
MGH Parking and Commuter Services reminds all staff and employees that
employee parking is not allowed during daytime hours in the Fruit Street,
Parkman Street and Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care garages or by any
MGH valet operation at the Cox Building, Wang Ambulatory Care Center or
Yawkey Center in order to provide parking for patients and visitors. As
both a benefit and convenience to evening and night/weekend employees,
MGH Parking and Commuter Services offers reduced rate and free parking
options at the Fruit Street and Parkman Street garages.
Evening or night/weekend shift employees wishing to enroll in a parking
program at the Fruit Street and Parkman Street garages can do so at the
Fruit Street parking office. The employee's hospital ID badge will be
programmed for access. Evening shift employees may enter the garages between
2:30 and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, for $80, which includes 20 programmed
uses. Night shift employees may use their programmed ID cards to enter
the garages after 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and 24 hours a day during
weekends which begin Friday at 5:30 pm and end Monday at 9:30 am
at no cost. There is no employee parking after 9:30 am, Monday
through Friday, at these garages. There is no employee parking in the
Yawkey Center Garage at any time.
MGHers using the garages should note the following policy details:
Employees registered for Fruit Street or Parkman Street garage
parking programs entering or exiting the garages outside of the specified
time periods will be charged the posted public rate for the time spent
parked in the garage through payroll deduction. If this practice is frequent,
supervisors will be notified.
Employees registered for Fruit Street or Parkman Street garage
parking programs entering or exiting the garages without their ID badge
will be charged, upon verification of their participation in the parking
programs, the maximum daily validated rate of $8 through payroll deduction.
No exceptions or refunds will be given.
Employees with an ID badge that does not work upon entering or
exiting the garages will be charged the maximum daily-validated rate and
given a receipt. The Fruit Street parking office will research and issue
a credit through payroll deduction if a refund is due. A receipt of inital
payment is required.
Employees with a personal medical appointment or visiting or caring
for a patient may park in the Fruit Street or Parkman Street garages or
use the valet for the time of the appointment or visit. Employees may
not go or return to work and leave their vehicles in the garage. Parking
spaces turn over three to four times a day, meaning that one parking space
occupied by an employee would take up to four patient parking spaces.
Repeat violators of parking policies may have their parking privileges
suspended or terminated. MGH Parking and Commuter Services thanks all
those who support these policies, which ensure adequate parking for patients
and visitors. For more
information, call (617) 726-8886.
