Black history celebration
Celebrating African-American history was the focus of the evening Feb. 7 as MGHers gathered at the Museum of African American History for an event hosted by the Association of Multicultural Members
of Partners (AAMP) and the Multicultural Affairs Office (MAO). The reception, "A Celebration of Black History," was held in the museum's Abiel Smith School, which once served as the nations' first public school for
African-American children. Attendees learned about the history of the African-American community in Beacon Hill, which dates back to the early years of Boston. The event concluded with a short film about Beacon Hill's African-American community in the 1800s.
