  • African-American Pinning Ceremony sends message of unity
    Held in recognition of Black History Month, the ninth annual African-American Pinning Ceremony Feb. 12 became a celebration of the MGH family. The ceremony featured a keynote address by Rhea McCauley, niece of civil rights heroine Rosa Parks; music by Boston gospel singer Sharon Molden; and the recognition of five African-American MGH employees for their significant contributions toward creating a positive and open organizational culture.
  • Bruins wear their hearts on their sleeves
    Valentine's Day brought a sweet surprise for congenital heart disease (CHD) patients at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) — a personal visit from Boston Bruins players Phil Kessel, Andrew Alberts and Dennis Wideman.
  • New research initiative is announced at the MGH
    The Richard B. Simches Research Center hosted a who's who of state politics Feb. 11 as Gov. Deval Patrick, Rep. Michael Capuano, Senate President Therese Murray, House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi and other local government leaders joined MGH President Peter L. Slavin, MD, to announce support for a new $12 million research investment program.
  • In the beginning: The birth of a hospital
    In preparation for the MGH's bicentennial in 2011, MGH Hotline occasionally will publish articles highlighting the hospital's rich history, including its beginnings, groundbreaking milestones and colorful but little known tidbits. This is the first installment.
