In General
Andrew L. Warshaw, MD, MGH surgeon-in-chief,
has been appointed treasurer of the American College of Surgeons, a more
than 70,000-member organization dedicated to improving surgical patient
care by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.
A paper by Elizabeth Sailhamer, MD,
a resident in the MGH Department of Surgery, was selected as a winner
in the American College of Surgeons'(ACS) Residents Trauma Papers Competition.
Sailhamer will present the paper, "Acetylation: A novel method for
modulation of the immune response following trauma/hemorrhage and inflammatory
second hit in animals and humans," at the scientific session of the
ACS Committee on Trauma annual meeting in March.
