• MGHers run for a cure on Marathon Monday
  After many months of dedicated training, 30 MGHers will lace up their sneakers and pound the pavement April 16 in the 111th Boston Marathon. These devoted athletes will earn more than bragging rights when they finish — they are among the 120 members of the MGH marathon team called "Fighting Kids' Cancer ... One Step at a Time," and are running to raise money for pediatric cancer programs and research at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC).

• The delights of spring
  In celebration of the coming of spring, close to 20 young patients and their families enjoyed the MassGeneral Hospital for Children's (MGHfC) annual Spring Egg Hunt April 15 in the Howard Ulfelder, MD, Healing Garden, located on the eighth floor of the Yawkey Center for Outpatient Care.

• The MGH studies heart attacks
  Coronary heart disease, America's number one killer, is responsible for one out of every five deaths in the country each year. In 2006 alone, more than 865,000 people suffered a heart attack — also known as myocardial infarction, or MI.

• Vincent Club offers musical afternoon
  Over the past year, three talented young musicians have been offering their time to play for the patients on the Bigelow 7 gynecology unit. The Musicales are a group from the Boston Conservatory of Music who each week provide an hour of instrumental music, treating patients to the distinct and beautiful sounds of the harp, classical guitar and the marimba.

• Jumpstarting careers with Partners in Career and Workforce Development
  In 2003, Patricia Myers was unemployed and applying for food stamps at an agency in Boston. As luck would have it, while there she noticed a flier publicizing a free, five-week job-training program with Partners HealthCare. The decision to apply to the Partners in Career and Workforce Development's (PCWD) Pre-Employment Program changed her life.

• Updating HR benefits
  Although MGHers can change their Human Resources (HR) benefits once a year during the fall open enrollment period, there may be other times in life that require a change.
