BiographyAfter serving as director of the Interventional Pulmonary Unit at the University of Califormia San Diego Medical Center, Dr. Colleen Channick moved to Boston in 2009 to establish the Pulmonary Special Procedures Unit and the Interventional Pulmonology Program at MGH. The program diagnoses and treats the complete range of central airway, lung, and pleural diseases, from chronic respiratory disorders to benign and malignant lung tumors. Dr. Channick teaches other physicians highly specialized pulmonary procedures and focuses her research on developing and testing the next generation of interventional devices and techniques. Some of the specialized procedures the Interventional Pulmonary Program performs include: endobronchial ultrasound , flexible and rigid bronchoscopy, electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy, balloon dilatation of airways, airway laser therapy, airway stent placement, and tunneled pleural catheter placement.
