The 10th anniversary of proton therapy on the MGH campus was celebrated Sept. 20. Guests at the event included Victoria Kennedy, wife of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, who received proton therapy as an MGH patient. More than 5,500 patients have received proton therapy over the past 10 years, and staff deliver more than 14,000 treatments annually.
“The Proton Therapy Center is a beacon of hope to many. Our goal in the years ahead is to add a second machine so that we can provide this treatment to every patient who needs it,” says Jay Loeffler, MD, chief of Radiation Oncology. Read more articles from the 9/28/12 Hotline issue.
