New Partnership Will Aid Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar

At the fourth Qatar Radiology Symposium, held this month, Dr. Ahmed Omar, chairperson of the HMC Radiology Department, announced preliminary agreements for the partnership. There will be exchange visits with Mass General Imaging to promote education and provide assistance in setting up new programs, such as the planned national breast cancer screening program. MGH Director of Breast Imaging, Dr Elizabeth Rafferty said, “Availability of the latest cutting edge technologies in Doha, such as 3D mammography and MRI, is going to make the screening program successful right away.” Dr. Rafferty will provide support on getting the program started and will serve as a resource to help evaluate the success of the screening program. HMC is also planning expanded MRI and interventional radiology capabilities.
