A research team led by Ralph Weissleder, MD, PhD, director of the Center for Systems Biology and the Center for Molecular Imaging Research at Massachusetts General Hospital, has developed a new approach to early cancer detection. The "breakthrough gadget" uses a nanotechnology sensor to find microvesicles, a component in the blood produced in larger amounts by tumors.
