Understanding and applying CT radiation-dose reduction techniques

First Annual International Symposium on Radiation Safety in CT (ISRC): Basic Concepts and Recent Advances

Date: 09/30/2011 - 10/01/2011
Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Description:
This course will impart knowledge that will help participants understand underlying concerns with CT radiation. In addition, emphasis on review of effect of technique assessment on radiation dose and image quality will help them follow and apply for dose conscientious protocols and thus reduce radiation dose with CT scanning. Reduction in radiation dose will improve patient safety. Participants will learn not only why they should know about dose and how they can reduce radiation dose but also visualize what their images will look like with dose reduction. Dedicated plenary sessions on protocol develop and image gallery will involve live two way discussion where experts will speak with the audience rather than at an audience. In addition, we are considering asking the participant in a formal manner if they considered the content of the symposium sufficient to help them change or make their practice safer in future.
