Three MGH nurses are among this year's New England finalists for the Nursing Spectrum Nursing Excellence Award. Lisa Bouvier, RN, a staff nurse in General Medicine on White 9, was recognized in the category of Clinical Nursing, Inpatient; Susan Lee, RN, PhD, a nurse scientist in the Yvonne L. Munn Center for Nursing Research, in the category Advancing and Leading the Profession; and Janet Madden, RN, MS, CCNS, clinical nurse specialist in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on Blake 10, in the category Education and Mentorship. The New England finalists will be honored at a gala on May 3 at the Boston Marriott Newton, when an overall winner in each of six categories will be announced.
Rakesh K. Jain, PhD, director of E.L. Steele Laboratory of Tumor Biology at the MGH Cancer Center, is the recipient of the 2012 Science of Oncology Award and Lecture, given by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The award is one of the highest honors given by ASCO in recognition of outstanding contributions to basic or translational research in cancer. Jain’s discoveries in the field of tumor biology have provided unprecedented insights into treatment barriers and how to overcome them. He will receive the award during the ASCO annual meeting June 1 through 5 in Chicago.
