Wellman Center for Photomedicine

The Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital investigates the effects of light on human biology and develops light-mediated, minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.

The Wellman Center for Photomedicine is dedicated to improving health and quality of life through discovery, understanding and application of new diagnostic and therapeutic uses of light in biomedicine. The pioneering research at the Wellman Center has been developed into successful clinical applications and treatments.

The Wellman Center includes a diverse research faculty of clinicians, biologists and microbiologists, chemists, physicists and engineers. Their research focuses on four primary areas: basic research, engineering and technology development, translational research and education.
