Role:
- Assess resources, strengths, risk and protective factors.
- Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of Action Plan.
- Ensure Coalition work is consistent with needs of the community.
Steering Group
Staff: Kitty Bowman
Goal: To ensure that all coalition activities and resources support the achievement of priorities of the Action Plan.
Role:
- Oversee budget, grants, proposals, coalition resources, work plan and activities.
- Make recommendations on funding and activities to the coalition.
- Ensure all segments of community are represented on the coalition.
Community Awareness Group
Staff: Kitty Bowman
Goal: Develop, conduct, and evaluate community awareness campaigns to:
- Change social norms regarding underage drinking in Revere
- Increase awareness of Revere CARES in the community
- Increase the community’s knowledge of services and programs available for Revere youth and families.
- Educate parents in the harm of underage drinking and ways to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors at home, in schools, and in the community.
Policy Group
Chairs: Dr. Eric Weil, Chief Terence Reardon
Staff: Jessie Williams
Goals: Strengthen policies, laws, and ordinances related to underage drinking and use of tobacco and other drugs and increase enforcement.
Roles:
- Review policies and best practices related to underage drinking and use of tobacco and other drugs by Revere youth.
- Discuss findings, establish priorities, and propose plans to address policy and enforcement issues.
- Educate and organize community to accomplish goals
- Monitor and assess enforcement of laws, ordinances, and policies governing underage drinking and use of tobacco and other drugs by Revere youth.
Mental Health/Opiates Group
Staff: Jessie Williams
Goal: Raise awareness of mental health and addictions treatment services available to Revere residents.
Roles:
- Update resource and referral lists, and provide networking opportunities for providers.
- Monitor data trends.
Alternative Activities Group/ Revere After School Partnership (RAP)
Chair: Mayor Ambrosino
Staff: Kitty Bowman, Mary Ann Zizzo
Goals: (1) To facilitate the development of a comprehensive coordinated network of out of school services that are affordable culturally competent for Revere youth, based on recommendations of the Revere CARES After School Report. (2) To develop a community fund to create a sustainable funding source for youth activities
