The Fellowship in Public and Community Psychiatry is a clinical fellowship designed to prepare doctors for work in both the public sector and community mental health settings. It emphasizes building clinical and administrative competence to manage complex patients with serious mental illness. Oliver Freudenreich, MD, is the director of this program.

The program includes:

  • Clinical rotations in an outpatient clinic, Mass General’s Schizophrenia Program and a state shelter
  • A psychiatric consultation experience at a Department of Mental Health state facility
  • An educational immersion experience in administrative psychiatry
  • Formal didactics in public policy and leadership
  • A scholarly project

Fellowship Eligibility

This one-year fellowship is offered for trainees at the PGY-5 level.  You must be able to obtain a Massachusetts license to practice medicine to be eligible.
