Stephen Durant, Ed.D.
CODIRECTOR, PACES INSTITUTE

Dr. Durant is a member of the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he is a training supervisor in child psychiatry and a psychologist for Parents in Challenging Times (PACT), a program providing support and consultation for families struggling with cancer. A clinical psychologist, Dr. Durant has more than 25 years of clinical experience with children, adolescents, adults, and families, as well as expertise in neuropsychologica assessment. A member of the faculty of Harvard Medical School, he has counseled adolescent and adult athletes throughout his career, provided leadership, training, and program development support to the Boys and Girls Club, and has given local talks and workshops to high school and club sport teams on performance enhancement and character development. He is an experienced athlete and coach, an avid rugby player, and father of four.

Richard D. Ginsburg, Ph.D.
CODIRECTOR, PACES INSTITUTE


Dr. Ginsburg is a clinical psychologist in the MGH Department of Psychiatry, where he works in the adult and child psychiatry outpatient department. He has 15 years of professional research and work experience with children, adolescents, and young adult populations in the context of sports, as a coach, teacher, and clinical psychologist with a specialty in sports psychology. A sports psychology consultant for the Harvard Men’s Lacrosse Team, Dr. Ginsburg provides talks and consultations to high school teams in the Boston, Baltimore, and Washington, DC areas. An experienced athlete at the high school and college levels, he played lacrosse and soccer at Kenyon College, where he won all conference and all midwest honors. A member of the faculty of Harvard Medical School, he previously taught at the Williston Northampton School, where he coached soccer, diving, and lacrosse.

Bruce Masek, Ph.D.
DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH, PACES INSTITUTE


Dr. Masek is director of Outpatient Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at MGH. He is an
associate professor of Psychology (Psychiatry) at Harvard Medical School. He is a
leading researcher and clinician in behavioral medicine, with a particular specialty in pain management and stress-related disorders. Dr. Masek has a long history
of treating and working with athletes, is an athlete himself, has coached in youth basketball programs for eight years, and is the father of two boys.

  Dr. Nicole Danforth is a psychiatrist and Instructor at Harvard Medical School, and is board certified in adult as well as child & adolescent psychiatry. She is a former touring golf professional with experience on tours in the U.S. and Asia, and she played in two U.S. Open Championships. She was a four-time Academic All-American in women’s golf at Amherst College. She is a former high school state swimming champion and Junior Olympian, and as a young person was the first girl to compete in a statewide boys’ baseball league. She has worked as a coach and mentor for several athletes, and is a parent as well. As Medical Director of the MGH Sports Psychology Program she has consulted to high school and collegiate athletic programs, and works with individual athletes, teams, coaches, and parents in several sports including golf, ski racing, swimming, basketball, soccer, and triathlons. Her clinical interests include performance enhancement, anxiety management, athletes with ADHD, and eating disorders.
