Preparation for Surgery

What to Do After Surgery

Please call your surgeon's office to confirm the time and date of your first post-operative appointment.

Take pain medicine as instructed by your surgeon. Please be aware that nausea and constipation are common side-effect of narcotic pain medication. If you experience severe nausea, please call the surgeon's office. If you experience constipation, please purchase stool softeners that are available over-the-counter at your local pharmacy.

Post-operative swelling can be a source of discomfort and pain, so please be mindful about elevating the extremity that had surgery, if so directed by your surgeon.
