BiographyJennifer Walker, MD, graduated from Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina, where she was awarded the first Nina S. Braunwald Cardiothoracic Research Fellowship. After extensive training in cardiothoracic surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Children?s Hospital Boston, she joined Mass General as staff cardiac surgeon. Dr. Walker?s areas of expertise are in aortic surgery, coronary bypass surgery, laser lead extraction, minimally invasive surgery, arterial grafting and valve replacement and repair.

Dr. Walker is the director of cardiothoracic resident education and the cardiothoracic surgical medical student rotation. She has developed curriculum for simulation programs throughout the U.S to train fellows, residents, nurses and operating room colleagues on strategies to continuously improve patient care and safety.

Dr. Walker is active on the committees of several national organizations, including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American Heart Association. She has published on topics related to cardiac diseases, cardiac surgery and surgical education and presents nationally on these areas.

She is an assistant professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School.
