The Division of Thoracic Surgery is experienced in performing tracheal resections.
The Division of Thoracic Surgery has extensive experience in performing tracheal resections for primary tumors of the airway.
The primary tumors fall into three categories:
- Adenoid cystic carcinomas of the airway
- Squamous carcinomas of the airway
- Benign or low-grade cancers of the airway
Surgical management encompasses all of the principles of airway surgery, from laryngotracheal resection and cervical exenterations; to larynx sparing laryngotracheal resections and reconstructions; to primary tracheal resection and reconstructions and carinal resections and reconstructions.
