Nancy Rigotti, MD, Director
Nancy Rigotti, MD, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, founded and directs the Tobacco Treatment Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a primary care physician, she has worked for three decades to help her patients stop smoking and to train other physicians and nurses to do the same. She has done extensive research in smoking cessation methods and policies, and she is a well-known national expert in the field of tobacco control.
Michele Reyen, MPH, Program Manager
Michele Reyen is the program manager for the Mass General Tobacco Treatment Service, as well as a health educator. She has a Master's degree in Public Health, specializing in social and behavior sciences. Prior to coming to Mass General, Michele worked in public health at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Caitlin McCann, BA, CTTS-M, Counselor
Caitlin McCann has worked in the field of smoking cessation since 2010. Prior to working at Mass General, she worked at Gosnold Treatment Centers, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility, as a patient access counselor. Additionally, she worked at Dismas House, assisting inmates with reintegration into society. She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree from Assumption College in Social and Rehabilitation Services, and also has a minor in Psychology. She has completed the Massachusetts Tobacco Treatment basic training and is working toward her certification as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, Master's level.
Nancy McCleary, RN, CTTS-M, Counselor
Nancy McCleary has worked in the field of smoking cessation since 1990. Prior to working at Mass General she worked at North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) for 15 years, where she counseled both inpatients and outpatients. She was part of a team that developed and initiated the Smoking Cessation Service at NSMC. In addition to working as a smoking cessation counselor at Mass General doing individual inpatient counseling and leading tobacco cessation groups, she also works with Dr. Rigotti on research studies involving tobacco treatment. She has completed the Massachusetts Tobacco Treatment Specialist, Master's level certification.
Laurie Lane, RRT, CTTS-M, Counselor
Laurie Lane has worked in the field of tobacco treatment since 1998. Her clinical experience includes counseling patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She has also consulted with many area employers to provide tobacco treatment as part of their employee wellness programs. Additionally, she has over 25 years of general and critical care experience working as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with both the pediatric and adult populations.
Erik Reilly, M.Ed, BS, RN, CHES, Counselor
Erik joined the Tobacco Treatment Service in March 2015. Prior to this, he was the clinical educator and a Level II staff nurse in the Gastroenterology Procedure Unit at Boston Children’s’ Hospital. During that time, he specialized in pediatric gastroenterology, motility disorders, and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy in pediatrics. Erik graduated with a Masters in Education, specializing in health promotion from Bridgewater State College, and is certified as health educator. Erik is currently working towards his Tobacco Treatment Specialist certification.
Kathleen McKool, RN, MSN, CTTS-M, Consultant
Kathleen McKool has worked with Dr. Rigotti since 1986. Her clinical experience includes providing intensive individual counseling to patients who have complex medical conditions, leading group programs and counseling by telephone. She has worked on research projects with Dr. Rigotti on smoking cessation medications and counseling in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She is an instructor for the Massachusetts Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training and Certification Program. Her specialty is cardiovascular nursing, and she also works at the Mass General Cardiology Department's Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Center.
