Dear Shelly,
We want to thank you, and the outstanding team of colleagues working with you, for the excellent
administrative observership program that the VEP office developed for Mr. Ozcan Cicek from
Acibadem Healthcare Group in Turkey.
Ozcan was so impressed and grateful for the expertise, professionalism, and personal interest extended to
him during his two weeks in Boston at the Massachusetts General Hospital. In all of our conversations
with him and in his final meeting with us last week at HMI, it was clear that the insight gained from
discussions that took place around Human Resources, Marketing, Healthcare Finance, Professional
Billing, Strategic Planning, Patient Advocacy to name just a few, are going to prove invaluable to Ozcan
as he returns to Istanbul. The teams in Environmental Services, Police & Security, and Material
Management really opened his eyes to initiatives and services within a large teaching hospital. He was so
clearly impressed with the openness in which everyone shared stories of success and areas of challenge,
and the collaborative decision making process he witnessed firsthand in many meetings. Professionally
and personally, his time at MGH will serve him well in his current role and in future responsibilities
within the growing Acibadem network.
We hope that your MGH colleagues enjoyed and benefited as well from their interaction with Ozcan. On
behalf of all of us at HMI, please extend our deep thanks to everyone involved in this mentoring program.
We also want to recognize you for the complete professionalism you bring to the VEP office and the
personal warmth you extend to the visitors who come through your office. You represent MGH so well
and are a real asset to the MGH community.
HMI is extremely grateful for the opportunities to work with you and your talented colleagues and look
forward to future collaborations. Thank You!
Please do not hesitate to call us if there is anything we, or HMI, can do for you or your MGH colleagues.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Brown, RN, MSN, MBA

Dear Ms. Riley,
Thank you for hosting the Naval Staff College for a highly interesting and informative orientation of the Massachusetts general Hospital on August 17th. Through this visit, you demonstrated to our 37 international students how your hospital serves the local community’s health care needs. In addition, your thorough and insightful discussion of the hospital’s history brought to light the impact your organization has had on the advancement of medical science, both in this country and throughout the world. The visit supported our educational objectives regarding health and human services, making it an integral part of our program curriculum for the New England area.
We sincerely appreciate your efforts to educate our students about Massachusetts General Hospital’s mission and its role in American health care. On behalf of Rear Admiral Jacob Shuford, President of the U.S. Naval War College, and the students of Naval Staff College Class of 2008, thank you for your support of our international program. We look forward to the possibility of visiting again in the future with a new class of international officers.
Sincerely,
Robert S. Winneg

Dear Ms. Dubitzky,
I am a medical illustrator and have always enjoyed visiting the historical landmarks and photo throughout MGH with friends and family visiting Boston. During the first week in August, my professional organization, the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) met in the Boston area for our 61st annual convention.
I contacted the MGH Office for Visitor Education Programs for help in arranging a tour for about 20 members of our group. Your staff proceeded to lead them on an energetic and illuminating tour covering the historical highlights of the hospital, including the fascinating trip to the amphitheater of the famous Ether Dome and the story of the use of ether for the first time in surgery. The entire tour was very well received and the feedback was excellent...thank you so much for this special programs for visitors.
