James B. Kobler, Ph.D. : Dr. Jim Kobler performs basic and clinical research in the Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He currently holds the positions of Assistant Physiologist in the Department of Surgery, Massachusetts General Hospital, Assistant Professor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School and Adjunct Faculty in the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology Program). Dr. Kobler received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1983, which was followed by an NIH postdoctoral fellowship at the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics and Department of Otology and Laryngology, of Harvard Medical School. Following an appointment in the Department of Anatomy and Cellular Biology at Harvard, Dr. Kobler founded the H. P. Mosher Laryngological Research Laboratory at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Kobler has numerous publications in the areas of neuroscience, voice production and clinical assessment of laryngeal function. He is currently active in designing a new basic research laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital for basic and applied research in Laryngology.
